Our second open improv session for the laid-back, the late-to-the-party, the busy bees, the world travellers, last-minute champions and other spontaneous souls. The Playground is a two-hours shot of improv, diving into a theme with an experienced trainer!

And our next guests are… ✨✨
Laura & Gael Doorneweerd-Perry (yes, they share a surname 👀)

Laura & Gael are some of our favorite (and arguably some of the best) improvisers in the world. Alongside performing, teaching and directing internationally, these lovebirds are the co-founders of Amsterdam Noord’s @flock_theatre 🦜

We’ve learned a ton from Gael & Laura, both by playing with them and by watching them work their improvised magic on stage, so we’re THRILLED to have them perform their hit show « Object of Affection » at our next SPARK show 🪁

In the spirit of our favorite Pixar movies, Object of Affection follow the impossible, against-all-odds love stories between two non-humans. Can a pencil get its heart broken? Can a cactus and a ballon live happily ever after? Will love conquer all?

Calling out all the baddies, bastards, evildoers & mischief makers 🌚

The default archetype of a villain is well-known. It is that of crooked postures and cackling laughs. However, we should be careful that they do not become so one-dimensional, that they no longer serve the show. This workshop will explore how we can create villains that are more dynamic, with histories, motivations and layers – without neglecting the fun!

Our master of the day? The one and only Nora McLeese @noraisapro !

Nora McLeese is an international improv performer, teacher and producer based in Amsterdam. She started improvising in youth theatre sports leagues and after a spell away from performing, she reconnected with improv in 2012 and hasn’t looked back since. Nora has trained at leading theaters in Chicago, London, Austin and Amsterdam. In 2015, she co-founded Tag Out Theatre, one of Amsterdam’s leading English-language improv destinations where she serves as executive director, as well as show host, producer and performer. She performs in Amsterdam and internationally with groups such as Easylaughs and Land of Giants. Her deepest wish is to one day perform a perfect two-person La Ronde.
