WHAT IS IMPROV?

Improv theatre is a performance art form where players create situations, characters and stories without any script or pre-existing plot. Improvisation is an incredibly powerful self-expression, creativity, and collective thinking tool. With founding principles such as acceptance, support, presence and listening, improv equips individuals with life-changing skills. It is also an excellent medium for trained actors to unleash their creativity and freedom on and off stage. Oh, and it’s fun. Really fun.

IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?

You’ve been to one or a few drop-ins, loved the taste of improv and want to explore more of its wonders? Then this course is for you.
You have NO prior experience but feeling adventurous? Then this course is for you.
You are frightened at the idea of improv and looking for a friendly, welcoming place to try it out? THEN THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU!

WHAT’S IN THE BASICS COURSE?

This 12-week course for beginners will equip you with a solid improviser toolbox, which includes :

Hold on! I still have questions 💡

Can I take the first lesson for free?

No! Once you sign up, you’re in for good. However, we organise taster classes every month. Check the Tasters page for all info.

I’m going to miss a few classes. Should I still sign up?

Yes. We made our classes longer than average to accomodate for busy schedules. However, if you miss more than 3 classes, we may ask you to repeat the level.

How do you run your classes?

We strive to hold welcoming, inclusive & intentional spaces. Our classes & events are run according to our code of conduct. We expect our students, participants and audience to respect this code and SPARK’s core values and act with kindness and genuine consideration towards one another.

I’ve done improv before. Is this for me?

If you’ve done a few classes here and there, or if you haven’t played in a while, we recommend you take this intro class. If you’ve completed a full intro course with another school, check out our workout class.

Will I get a refund if I drop out?

If SPARK cancels a course for any reason, a full refund will be issued to students. If one class is cancelled, we will make sure to reschedule it. We will run this course with a minimum of 8 students. If the minimum number of participants isn’t reached, we will postpone or cancel the class and refund it entirely. In addition, SPARK is not responsible for any decision made by a student to drop out of a course. Students are responsible for their own learning and progress throughout the course.

Money is a bit tight. Can I pay in instalments?

We want to make improv accessible to all, so please get in touch for specific payment plans.
